Tristan Gorski is currently at home recovering from a serious illness that required intensive care and kidney dialysis. This appeal is to help cover Tristan’s medical expenses and treatment, most of which have already been paid but unfortunately were not covered by his insurance policy.
This appeal has been written and organised by Gia Vasillevska on behalf of Tristan, reaching out to the community for support during his recovery.

If you’ve danced on Koh Phangan, you may know Tristan Gorski through his music, his events, or a moment shared on the dance floor.
Tristan co-founded Ecstatic Dance Koh Phangan in 2016. Since then, he has spent years bringing people together through music and dance, becoming a familiar face and an active part of the island’s conscious community.
For Tristan, these gatherings are about more than music. They are places where people can feel welcome, meet others and be themselves. Over the years, the community he has helped build has become an important part of his own life too.
After a serious illness that brought him close to losing his life, Tristan is now beginning to recover at home. This page is an invitation to support him through that recovery, as someone who has helped bring so many of us together through music, connection and community.
At the beginning of October, Tristan developed cold and flu-like symptoms. They seemed to clear up after four or five days, but then came back, cleared again, and returned once more.
On 15 October, the illness came back with a high fever and body aches. He visited a local doctor, thinking he might have dengue. He tested negative for dengue, COVID and other infections, and went home to rest.
On Monday 19 October, he had severe stomach pain and a temperature of 39°C. Further tests showed that his kidneys and liver were close to failing.
He was rushed to hospital on Koh Samui by emergency speedboat transfer, where he was diagnosed with severe leptospirosis (information from the CDC, opens in a new tab). He needed emergency kidney dialysis and spent four days in the intensive care unit (ICU), where doctors and nurses monitored him around the clock. His partner stayed by his side throughout his hospital treatment.
In total, Tristan spent 11 days in Koh Samui Hospital.
Tristan remembers little of the first three or four days. At discharge, his kidney specialist told him his illness had been in the severe category and that she had feared he would not survive. Only after coming home has he begun to understand how close he came. He now feels a much deeper gratitude for his life and how precious it is.
This was a life-threatening illness, and recovery will take time. Tristan is now at home, where his recovery period is expected to last at least three months. His energy levels are still very low and he needs plenty of sleep, with the first two weeks focused on complete rest.
He has support at home from his partner and friends, and is slowly recovering.
His kidneys are beginning to recover, but the long-term outlook is not yet known. He will be closely monitored through further hospital tests and outpatient appointments, including follow-up sessions with a kidney specialist. It is not yet clear whether he will need further dialysis.
He has cancelled or moved DJ bookings and will return to work slowly as his health allows. The quieter season gives him time to rest at home and focus on getting well.

Tristan is a self-employed artist. To pay for his hospital transfers and treatment, he had to use savings and borrow money. His insurance covered accidents and some medical expenses, but it did not cover this illness.
Your contribution will help cover these costs and ease the financial pressure while he rests, recovers and gradually returns to work.

Thank you so much for being here, and for taking the time to read Tristan’s story.
To everyone who has sent a message, offered help and support, or simply kept Tristan in your thoughts: thank you, from the bottom of my heart. Tristan truly appreciates your kindness and generosity. The love and community around him have meant so much, and have helped carry him through this really challenging time.
Every contribution, every share and every kind word makes a difference as he rests and recovers. Thank you for showing up for Tristan, just as he has shown up for so many of us, on the dance floor and in many other ways across our community.
